Extenuating circumstances often provide unexpected opportunities. Most recently, the Polo Club here in Granada, Nicaragua was closed due to political reasons.

As luck would have it, a polo player/ horse trainer was in country and missing his saddle time. When Alex Bazan contacted us to see if we needed any help with our horses as he was less occupied now – we totally obliged.

Future plans included Polo at Big Sky Ranch, but just like that, we have polo horse training, polo lessons and an evaluation of our herd. Alex picked his two – Elvis.

Alex’s excitement for our proposed polo field was only exceeded his enjoyment to teach us a few polo tricks. Big Sky Partner, Karin Eigner jumped on board to learn a few things. And rumour has it, she has bought herself some new polo mallets. Maybe a female Big Sky Polo Team is in order.

He is leaving October to return for the polo season in his home country Argentina. But not to worry…. plans are in place to bring him back in February. Let the games begin.
